During a co-op at the Northeastern RIVeR Laboratory, I led the preliminary effort to automate novel personal protective equipment (PPE) testing to FDA test standards. As a part of this, I executed semi-automated tests for novel personal protective equipment. As I carried out the tests manually, I generated documentation detailing how each of the three testbeds of the project could be improved and how the process could be quickly brought to full autonomy. During the early COVID-19 pandemic, working with extremely limited supplies, this project was a coordinated effort between many organizations. The effort resulted in a $0.5M grant approval to the lab for the project. An article was written in the Northeastern magazine reflecting some of the research I had led as a part of this effort.
